Ali clinches tennis title

KARACHI: Sahibzada Mohammad Ali clinched the men’s singles title in the second Interflow Trophy Ranking Tennis Championship, which concluded here at Union Club on Thursday.

Ali faced Dawar Rehan in the summit clash of the tournament and recorded a 6-3, 6-3 victory to claim the title. Marib Malik won the juniors U-17 singles title, blanking Dawar Rehan in the final 6-0, 6-4.

In the men’s doubles final, Ali Sawani teamed up with Mohammad Raza Sawani to overpower the pair of Mohammad Iltifat and Sher Mohammad 8-3.

Meanwhile, Shahzil Malik claimed the U-13 singles title. Mohammad Hamza was the runner-up. Abdullah Ahmadani won the U-11 singles event in which Saim Danish ended as runner-up.

Results (finals): Men’s singles: Sahibzada Mohammad Ali bt Dawar Rehan 6-3, 6-3.

Junior U-17 singles: Marib Malik bt Dawar Rehan 6-0, 6-4.

Men’s doubles: Ali Sawani/Mohammad Raza Sawani bt Mohammad Iltifat/Sher Mohammad 8-3.
