kOHAT: Jamaat-i-Islami, a coalition partner in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, has demanded solution to the longstanding problem of water shortage in the posh KDA Town here.

The demand was made at a meeting chaired by district president, Pir Faheem. The meeting also assigned special duties to workers for preparations for the visit of JI amir Sirajul Haq to the district.

The meeting also expressed anger over alleged corruption in government departments in the district and warned that if the malpractices were not stopped, corrupt officials would be expelled from the district.

Meanwhile, the residents of sector 4 and sector 9 of the KDA town said that they were suffering due to shortage of water in the hot weather.

Speaking at a meeting on Tuesday, they said officials had been blaming the water shortage on low electricity voltage, which was unable to run the water pumps.

They said that KDA authorities had also bought new pumps for the purpose but the problem was yet to be resolved.

They said that the municipal workers were nowhere to be seen in the town because of which streets were littered with garbage.

FOUR PERSONS KILLED: Three people were killed in different incidents here on Tuesday, police

said. Three men, Gul Mir, Hajrat Khan and Azmat Ali, shot dead Shafqat Feroze Khan in Muhammadzai area and then escaped.

In another incident occurred in Khaista Banda area of Jarma, Mohammad Ilyas was killed by unknown people. Police registered case and began investigation.

A man belonging to Shakardarra town was killed by his rivals in Nandarka area.

Mohammad Zaman, brother of the victim, told police that the deceased, Omer Siddique, had gone to bazaar for buying vegetables, but he didn’t return.

In the meantime, he said local people informed him that his brother’s body was lying in Nandarka area.

On the other hand, a motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a trailer on Karappa road in Shakardarra. The victim was identified as Sajjad Khan. The police arrested the driver, Abdul Wadood, and impounded the vehicle.
