KARACHI: It was an eventful day for Pakistan as all its four cueists emerged victorious in the 15th Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship in the Indian city of Chandigarh on Tuesday.

According to results made available here, country’s top junior cueist Majid, who is determined about making amends for last year’s loss in the final, whipped Iran’s Sanjai Amin 4-1 to emerge group B champion and cruise into last-16 (pre quarter-final) round.

He chalked up an authoritative 55-23, 73-22, 37-68, 60-11, 66-42 victory over his opponent. The triumph include three half century breaks of 54, 57 and 52 in the second, third and fourth frames.

Though Majid’s three compatriots also returned home victorious, their fate of making it to the knockout stage would be known on completion of their group matches. All of them have lost one match apiece in three fixtures so far.

Amir Tariq bulldozed Dae Gyu Lee of South Korea straight 73-13, 98-8, 85-4, 65-43.

Haris Nadeem struggled to overcome Indian Vikrant Kapoor in the fully stretched battle 4-3 (40-55, 74-43, 32-70, 60-53, 31-61, 69-23, 58-11).

Hamza Akbar, a former national champion, conceded two frames while disposing off local Indian Ashutosh Padhy 23-50, 83-44, 64-63, 49-66, 65-11, 85-21.
