Rs5.3 million Zakat to be disbursed

HARIPUR, Dec 16: As many as 5029 poor people belonging to District Haripur would be paid Rs5.3 million on account of Zakat and Guzara allowance on the occasion of Eidul Fitr.

Informed sources told Dawn that the District Nazim Dr Raja Aamir Zaman, taking strong exception to the complaints of the delay in payment of Zakat and Guzara allowance by the Ushr and Zakat Department, had ordered disbursement of Zakat to the deserving people before Eidul Fitr.

In compliance with the orders of the District Nazim the Department of Zakat and Ushr has issued checks amounting to Rs5.3 million to the local Zakat committees for immediate disbursement among the needy people.

The Guzara Allowance would be paid to some 2895 people at the rate of Rs1500 each while 2134 people would benefit from the Zakat fund with each receiving Rs500.

The District Nazim has also issued directives for the distribution of education fund among the poor students.
