QUETTA: Security forces’ personnel killed at least 30 alleged militants during a search operation on Thursday in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district.

During a press conference, Provincial Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said that security personnel conducted raids in different areas of Dera Bugti. He said one security personnel was killed and eight others were injured during an exchange of fire with miscreants.

"Security personnel also faced resistance from the miscreants," Bugti added.

He, however, said eight suspected militant camps were successfully abolished during the operation, adding that around 350 kilograms of explosives, 50 anti-personnel mines, arms and ammunition were also recovered from the militants.

"Forces also freed two hostages from the custody of the miscreants," said the provincial home minister.

Bugti said the search operation was carried out in response to militant attacks against vital national installations and security forces.

He said the provincial government would not bow down before the miscreants and would continue its operations for improvement of the law and order situation in the province.
