KARACHI, July 11: Judicial Magistrate Central, Karachi, Farooq Ahmed Abbasi has extended the police remand of the general-secretary of Mohajir Qaumi Movement, Amir Khan, till July 14, 2003.

Amid tight security by police, he was eariler produced before the city court on charge of snatching a weapon from a government official.

According to the prosecution, an FIR was lodged in Laiquatabad police station against Amir Khan among others on charge of snatching a sub-machine gun (SMG) and 29 rounds from Laiquat Ali, who was the official guard of the Muttahida Quami Movement central leader, Shoaib Bukhari, at his house in Liaquatabad in June 1992.—PPI
