MARDAN: Head of South Asian Archaeology Department, University of Leicester UK, Dr Ruth Young visited Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, here on Thursday.

Dr Young has carried out numerous archaeological researches on Pakistan and her work has been recognised in several international journals. She thoroughly inspected various departments of AWKUM and expressed special interest in the university’s museum. While inspecting the photo gallery in museum, she said that AWKUM museum had grown a great deal in a short time and was playing a vital role in highlighting the culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On this occasion, AWKUM vice-chancellor Prof Ihsan Ali and assistant professor Shakirullah of Hazara University were also present. Later, Prof Ali said that the AWKUM museum would remain open on the International Museum Day on May 18 for pubic and families. He said that on this day various activities would be arranged.

Later, Dr Young visited the Garden Campus and appreciated the design of the under-construction museum. She said that the design of Garden Campus was similar to many campuses in the UK.
