HYDERABAD, July 10: The Sindhi Language Authority, Hyderabad, announced on Thursday that the inaugural ceremony of Sindhi language teaching classes in Karachi and Hyderabad would be held at the Hindu Gymkhana, Karachi, on July 14 at 12pm.

The Sindh minister for culture and tourism, Shabbir Ahmed Qaimi, will perform the inaugural ceremony.

Dr Hamida Khuhro and Dr Farman Fatehpuri will express their views on the importan-ce and significance of the Sindhi Language Teaching Programme for non-Sindhi speaking people.

SU: The director, Planning and Development, University of Sindh, through a notification issued on Thursday advised the teachers of all the departments of the Faculty of Natural Sciences to contact him immediately if they were interested in submitting PhD scholarship forms for higher studies in Germany as announced by the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad.

He announced that the last date for submitting the applications has been fixed as July 17.

The application forms can be downloaded from the following website: http//:www.hec.gov.pk in scholarships-HRD section or they could be obtained from the regional centres of the Higher Education Commission, including Karachi.

SPSC: The chairman, Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC), Prof Mohammad Hassan Bhutto, visited the University of Sindh and met with the vice chancellor, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, at his office on Wednesday to discuss academic and educational matters.

They also discussed steps taken for the promotion of higher education in the province as well as the country.
