ISLAMABAD: The second spell of rain in just two days not only turned the weather pleasant on Saturday but provided some relief to the residents of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad from loadshedding.

The loadshedding has been reduced by more than 50 per cent with the drop in mercury.

“The twin cities are witnessing a four-hour loadshedding compared to 8 to 10 hours at the start of the week,” said an official of the ministry of water and power.

However, the main reason for the decline in loadshedding is cut in power demand, which remained at 12,300 mega watts across the country by Saturday noon.

The loadshedding is expected to be negligible on Sunday when another 1,000 megawatts will be added to the national grid.

The met office has predicted more rain on Sunday, and cloudy weather the following two days as a result the temperature would hover around 34-36 degrees centigrade at day time and the nights would be a bit cooler.
