KOHAT: The local administration will establish swings and provide circus facilities at the company park, where a 10-day youth festival is going on, to provide entertainment opportunities to the fun-starved families.

The decision was made at a meeting chaired by assistant commissioner, Kohat, Captain retired Farrukh Atique here on Monday. It was also attended by district sports officer Sikandar Shah, chief municipal officer Mohammad Shoeb, assistant director information Irshad Afridi, and others.

Mr Atique directed the chief municipal officer to make arrangements for circus and swings facilities so the children could enjoy the Ham Jawan Youth Festival.

Meanwhile, a poetry competition was also held in the youth festival in which eight teams from various schools participated.

A team comprising Asavia Jawad and Sameen Khattak grabbed first position followed by Javeria and Saddam. Laiba Dilwar and Aeman Seemab stood third. They were awarded prizes.

Professor Iqbal, who is the organiser of the youth festival, said that such occasions would bring out the best among the youth and would enable them to play role in the progress and prosperity of the country.

On the occasion, advisor to chief minister MPA Amjid Khan Afridi said that the youth interested in taking part in vocational and disaster management training and health workshops should register with their focal persons.

Mr Afridi said that the provincial government would establish playgrounds at union council level to promote sports. He said that those who would excel in the district competitions would be provided chance to take part in the games and other activities at the provincial level.

Quiz competitions, short films, drama, national songs, calligraphy, photography and debates were part of the youth festival to dig out hidden talent from the youth, said the lawmaker.
