RAWALPINDI, July 7: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board recovered Rs119.5 million House Tax out of a target of Rs120 million, set for the fiscal 2002-2003.

This is the for first time the cantonment board has reached very close to its target, said the RCB spokesman, Ashraf Qureshi.

It may be recalled that the maximum recovery, the board has ever made before in this connection, is Rs80 million.

Besides, a record amount has been recovered in the Transfer of Immovable Property Tax (ITP). A target of Rs60 million had been set under this head while the RCB recovered Rs80 million. The additional amount of Rs20 million has come from the sale of Army Welfare Trust plaza to Askari Commercial Bank.

Similarly, the newly-established Chaklala cantonment also recovered Rs19.5 million out of Rs20 million House Tax target, set for the last fiscal.

A 10 per cent rebate was given to those, who had paid their House Taxes before the expiry of deadline which was June 30. The defaulters will be first served with show-cause notices and warrants through the cantonment magistrate. Later, if they do not pay the dues, their movable and immovable properties will be confiscated.
