RAWALPINDI: Transferred officers of the Punjab police are reluctant to take up their new assignments, sources told Dawn on Wednesday.

The Punjab Inspector General of Police had issued a notification on Monday ordering transfer of eight senior police officers, five of them from Rawalpindi.

They were asked to assume their duties with immediate effect. But despite a lapse of three days, none of the police officers has reported on their new posts.

According to the notification, ASP Attaur Rehman, presently posted as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) People’s colony circle Faisalabad, was transferred to Rawalpindi as SP Potohar division while Haroon Joyia SP Potohar was transferred and posted as City Traffic Officer Rawalpindi.

Muhammad Shoaib Khuram, City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpind was posted as SSP operation, while Mohammad Maqbool who had been serving as SSP Operation and had been posted as City Police Officer, Rawalpindi.

Ishfaq Ahmed SSP Traffic Rawalpindi region transferred to police training college Sihala and Mohammad Maqbool was to assume the charge of SSP traffic Rawalpindi region, but the former was not willing to go to Sihala.

Similarly, SP Joyia rushed to Lahore to request the IGP that he was not interested in assuming the charge of CTO especially when the metro bus project was in progress in the city and traffic commuters were facing immense problems.

Mohammad Shoaib Khuram who had recently been posted as city traffic officer was reluctant to assume the charge of SSP operation, thought it was a lucrative posting.
