I WENT to a lavish restaurant for dinner in Islamabad. When I entered its dining room, everything seemed to be perfect until I noticed a young girl of perhaps nine holding a baby in her arms.

She was a maid. Was it her age to be a maid and take responsibility of taking care of a baby? Also, it was painful to see that she was taking care of the baby while the family was enjoying their food. The little girl was only looking at the food being enjoyed.

How much would it cost to provide her food too?

We need to understand the right meaning of being educated and socially aware people. It reminded me of the time when people were kept slaves. Are we progressing or regressing?
