KARACHI: Secretary Local Government Sindh and Chairman Sindh Softball Association (SSA) Javed Hanif has said that SSA is looking forward to host upcoming international events in a befitting manner in order to pave the way for the revival of international events in Pakistan. Karachi will be hosting Pak-Iran Friendship Women Series next month and South West Asia Women Softball Championship in September.

“We are very indebted to Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) for allotting the international tournaments to SSA and will do our best to organize these events in a befitting manner,” said Javed.

He added that the two events would not only promote the game of softball in the country but would also help Pakistan to lift its soft image in the world. “The organizing of these events will help us portray a soft image of the country. With these, we could send a clear message to the world that Pakistan is safe for international tournaments,” he said.

The SSA top brass, comprising the chairman, national head coach and Secretary SSA Asif Azeem, Senior Vice President Zeeshan Merchant and Organizing Secretary Maroof-ul-Hasan met here on Thursday to discuss the organisational aspects of the tournament.

Meanwhile, head coach Asif on the occasion said that the National Women Softball Championship, which begins from Friday in Rawalpindi will help them prepare a strong national outfit for the series against Iran. “And the series against Iran will help us in organizing and preparing a strong team for the South West Asia Women Softball Championship,” said Asif.
