KARACHI: The benefit match for ailing cricket organiser Amir Akram Khan will be staged here on May 10 with several former Pakistan captains and cricketers having pledged their support and assistance, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday.

Amir Akram, suffering from diabetics, met ex-Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi at his residence, who appreciated his contribution and services in cricket and promised him his full support

Former skippers Moin Khan, Younis Khan, former and current Test cricketers Iqbal Qasim, Shoaib Mohammad, Salahuddin Ahmed, Asad Shafiq, Khurram Manzoor and Sarfraz Ahmed, KCCA’s presidential candidates Prof Ejaz Faruqi and Nadeem Omar a large number of cricket and sports organizers extended their support to the veteran cricket organizer.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui will be the patron-in-chief for the benefit match while former chief selector and NBP Sports chief Iqbal Qasim will be the chairman of the organizing committee.

A number of current and former Pakistan cricketers will be featuring in the match.—APP
