6 of a family drown

SARAIALAMGIR, July 5: Six members of a family were killed and two wounded when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into Upper Jhelum Canal near Pul Qasba, some six kilometres from here on Saturday. The family of Malik Manzoor of Punj Warian village was going to Chak Kahian near Saraialamgir with a marriage party in a Pajero jeep which plunged into the canal after skidding off the road.

Malik Manzoor, his three daughters Insha, Ayesha and Amina, nephew Nuzhat and Iqra died, while his wife Nasreen Akhtar and daughter Sidra were pulled out with injuries and shifted to a hospital.

All the bodies except that of Iqra were fished out.—APP
