LARKANA: Following an appeal by the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), local cable operators took Urdu news channels off the air on Friday.

A cable operator, Arsalan Buriro, told Dawn that Urdu channels were not only blocked in Larkana but also in Khairpur Mir’s, Shikarpur, Dadu and some other districts after JSQM’s appeal.

The JSQM had expressed reservations about Urdu media’s coverage of the party’s March 23 rally in Karachi.

JSQM leaders taking part in the soyem of its slain leaders, Maqsood Qureshi and Salman Wadho, in Ratodero had appealed to people to boycott the Urdu news channels.
