GUJRANWALA: Two people shot dead their mother and sister for ‘honour’ in village Wazirki Chattha of Alipur Chattha on Wednesday.

Police said Ghulam Murtaza and Muhammad Afzal suspected that their mother (F) and sister (N) had affairs. They opened fire at them with a 12-bore repeater rifle leaving them dead at the scene and fled.

Police registered a double murder case against Murtaza and Afzal.

PROTEST: People blocked road in Garden Town on Wednesday with the body of the deceased and demanded an immediate arrest of the killer.

Protesters said Sajid shot at Zulfiqar and his son Zohaib of Ghosiaabad Civil Lines Area after Zohaib had terminated his engagement with the sister of Sajid a fortnight ago. Zohaib had died immediately while his father Zulfiqar who was admitted to the civil hospital also died on Wednesday.

Protesters dispersed on City Police Officer Raja Rifat’s assurance that Sajid would be arrested soon.

FIA: The Federal Investigation Agency arrested eight alleged traffickers and seized several passports from them.

Inspectors Kashif Riaz, Ghulam Rasool, Imran Haider and Navid Cheema raided and arrested Bilal and Abdul Rehman in Gujranwala; Naseer Ahmad and Zawar Afzal in Hafizabad, Ehsanullah, Attaur Rehman, Arshad Masih and Sarfraz in Sialkot.

ATC: Anti Terrorism Court No 2 Judge Muhammad Ittifaq Abassi issued on Wednesday a court poster for the arrest of Sialkot DSP Ehsan Chohan for his failure to appear in court.

The action was taken after Chohan did not submit the report an acid attack case.

Also, special judicial magistrate Muhammad Imran issued on Wednesday non-bailable arrest warrant for 19 bricks kiln owners and directed police to produce them in court on April 6.

The labour department had challaned these kiln owners for violating labour laws.

FIRE: Unidentified armed men opened fire at the residence of former MPA and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader SA Hameed late on Wednesday in Satellite Town and escaped.

At Citizen Welfare Forum, Mr Hameed alleged that it was an act of terrorism by his rivals. Insaf Professionals Forum chairman Dr Gulzar Ahmad and president Dr Zahid Mehmood Mian demanded an inquiry into the incident.
