2 more bids to fence border thwarted

SIALKOT, Dec 15: The Chenab Rangers thwarted two more Indian attempts to fencing the Chhamb and Charwa sectors of Sialkot working boundary, here, late on Friday night.

According to the official sources, the Indian security forces, continued intense firing on border villages in Chhamb, Joriyaan, Bajwat, Charwa, Jammu, Sucheetgarh and Shakargarh sectors of the working boundary, damaging 11 houses and the paddy crop.

No loss of life was reported.

The exchange of fire between the Rangers and the Indian security forces continued till the filing of this report, late on Saturday evening.

KILLED IN ROBBERY: Haji Qurban Ali, 70, a local land lord, was killed by four armed men on resisting a robbery attempt in Begowal village of Daska. The robbers managed to escape.

ALERT: The Sialkot police have been put on an alert to avert any untoward incident at the eve of Eidul Fitr, SSP Muhammad Tahir said.
