LAHORE: The Jamaatud Dawa, a religious outfit known for its support for Jihad in Kashmir, took out a rally here on Sunday to mark the Pakistan Day.
Led by party emir Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the participants marched from Minar-i-Pakistan to Masjid-i-Shuhada on The Mall for what they said reviving the Pakistan ideology.
Riding motorcycles, cars, wagons, mini buses and trucks, they were carrying party flags, placards and banners inscribed with slogans.
Besides police, the organisers also took strict security measures to avert any untoward incident. CCTV camera-mounted vans monitored the entire route of the rally.
Speaking to the participants, Hafiz Saeed said rights of Hindu, Christian and other minorities were being protected in the country, while in India even low caste Hindus were being maltreated.
He announced opposition to efforts by certain quarters for granting Most Favourite Nation status to India.
The JuD chief said deliberate efforts were being made to manipulate the new generation about the ideology of Pakistan. “The country is a citadel of Islam and will remain so as the nation will foil all attempts to damage the very foundation of Pakistan.”
On the occasion, Hafiz Saeed also administered oath to the participants in which they pledged to protect ideological boundaries of the country.
