Pakistan won the South Asian Bodybuilding Championship with 49 points. Besides Shaukat Shehzad, who bagged the gold to take the Mr South Asia title, Fahad Naseem was crowned Junior Mr South Asia in the 70kg plus category. In the 90kg plus category Shehzad was followed by Ahmad Yaseen of Afghanistan and Ijaz Haider of Pakistan.

In the 55kg senior category, Sujan Taman of Nepal took gold while Pakistan’s Ghulam Abbas and Mohammad Owais finished second and third, respectively. Again a bodybuilder from Nepal, Gayan Narian, topped in the 60kg category while Abid Mahmood and Mujahid Hussain were second and third. In the 65kg category, Qurban Ali of Afghanistan took the first position while Mohammad Imtiaz and Abdur Razzak of Pakistan picked up the silver and bronze. Owais Sajjad of Pakistan won in the 70kg category as Amjad Yaseen also of Pakistan was second and Hunner Ahmed of Afghanistan third. Pakistan’s Banaras Khan, Hafiz Umer and Qaiser Mirza bagged gold, silver and bronze, respectively, in the 75kg category as did Ali Imran, Zahid Khan and Mohammad Azeem, also of Pakistan, in the 80kg category. In 85kg, Nusrat Ansari of Afghanistan picked up gold while Pakistan’s Mazhar Iqbal and Mudassar Khalid were second and third, respectively.

Altogether Pakistan won four gold, eight silver and eight bronze medals in the competitions.

Afghanistan came second with 31 points and three gold medals as Nepal ended up third with 10 points and two gold medals. — S.H.
