ISLAMABAD: The government's inquiry committee constituted to investigate independent Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti's allegations that a number of parliamentarians were involved in “immoral activities” at the Parliament Lodges said on Tuesday that submission of empty liquor bottles was not credible evidence to prove his claims, DawnNews reported.

The seven-member committee said non-Muslim lawmakers also lived at the official residential apartments for parliamentarians and were permitted to purchase and consume alcohol.

The meeting, held at the parliament lodges, was also attended by Capital Development Authorities (CDA) officials and examined the evidence submitted by Dasti who had alleged that the Parliament Lodges had become a “den of immoral activities.”

Sources said the committee had also decided to set up recommendations to prevent a similar scenario from emerging again.

Committee member Khawaja Sohail Mansoor said such the surfacing of such allegations was on account of negligence by the CDA and demanded the resignation of Maroof Afzal who heads the development authority, sources added.
