ISLAMABAD: Independent Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti expressed dissatisfaction over an inquiry committee constituted to investigate his allegations that a number of parliamentarians were involved in “immoral activities” at the Parliament Lodges, the official residential apartments for parliamentarians.

Speaking to DawnNews, Dasti demanded of the government to launch an independent judicial inquiry to investigate the alleged scandal.

The parliamentarian also said he had provided a hundred evidences regarding his claims to Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq.

Expressing dissatisfaction, Dasti said the inquiry committee set up by the government would not be able to reach the root of the matter.

He also said that he would not appear before the committee to present specifications and justifications on the matter.

Earlier last week, during a session of the National Assembly, Dasti had alleged that girls were brought to the lodges and dances were arranged.

The Parliament Lodges, he said, had become a “den of immoral activities” as liquor worth Rs40 million to Rs50m was supplied there and the odour of liquor as well as charas was pervasive.

The National Assembly Secretariat had served a notice to Dasti over his allegations on the directives of Sadiq.

Sadiq and Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan had both denied charges made by Dasti.

The speaker had said that if Dasti's allegations proved wrong, then the entire parliament would decide punishment against him.
