ISLAMABAD: The Kohsar police registered a case against Senator Azam Khan Hoti for his alleged involvement in threatening his former wife with dire consequences, the police said on Monday.

The case was registered against Senator Hoti, an ex-communication minister and the father of former KP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, in response to a complaint lodged by his former wife, Shamim Akhter Kiani.

The complainant alleged that two armed men raided her house at F-7/2 on March 5 and held her at gunpoint along with a housemaid. The gunmen threatened her with dire consequences if she did not withdraw four cases she had lodged against her former husband.

Ms Kiani said she escaped to another room and called Rescue-15. The gunmen fled before the arrival of the police, she added.

The Kohsar police said an investigation was in progress but the accused nominated in the case were yet to be arrested.
