KOHAT, June 30: Begum Shamim Iftikhar, wife of the NWFP governor, has emphasized that modern education is necessary if we want to be a civilized and developed nation which is self-reliant in human resource and all other present and future needs.

She was speaking at the opening ceremony of a school here, according to a press release issued here on Sunday.

The developed countries that had hold over technological advancement were ruling the world whereas those oblivious of the future challenges were destined to remain their slaves, she said.

Begum Shamim underlined the need for adopting modern techniques of education to help face the nation the challenges of the 21st century.
