At least six killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: At least six people were killed in separate incidents of violence in Karachi, DawnNews reported on Tuesday.

A body of a 22-year-old male bearing torture marks was discovered from Alam pride area of North Karachi.

Moreover, one person was killed in a firing incident near Lyari's Ath Chowk.

In another firing incident, a person was killed at a motorcycle workshop near Gulbahar area.

Another two persons were gunned down in Mominabad area in Iqbal Market in the city's Orangi Town area.

Their bodies were sent to the hospital.

Earlier on Monday, a professor was killed as a result of firing at Fatmia Hospital’s gate in Soldier Bazaar area whereas a student was severely injured.

Meanwhile, Rangers personnel conducted targeted operations in Mangopir, Orangi Town, MPR Colony areas of Karachi and claimed the arrest of 11 suspects, along with the recovery of arms and ammunition.

The operation was conducted by 1,000 Rangers' men, including women personnel and personnel of the Rangers’ anti-terrorism unit.

All entry and exit points of the areas, where the operations were conducted, had been sealed.

The operations were conducted after Rangers personnel received 'secret information' from their sources.

On the other hand, Sindh's provincial government decided to lift up the one-month ban on pillion riding in Karachi.

Sindh’s Information Minister, Sharjeel Memon, said the one-month ban on pillion riding was lifted due to the concerns of Karachi's citizens and added that if required the ban would be imposed again.
