Hamza Baba remembered

LANDI KOTAL: Teachers and students of Government Degree College, Landi Kotal, on Sunday organised a literary session in connection with the 20th death anniversary of Baba-i-Pashto ghazal Ameer Hamza Khan Shinwari.

The session was also attended by poets from Nangrahar province of Afghanistan. Students of local educational institutions also attended the occasion.

Poets read out papers on the life and literary contributions of Hamza Baba, commonly

referred as Baba-i-Ghazal among the literary circles in Fata and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The speakers said Hamza Baba spread peace and love through his verses and made valuable contributions to Pashto poetry.

They demanded of the government to repair his damaged mausoleum and contribute more books to the library.

They also demanded establishment of a fund for publication of all unpublished works of Hamza Baba.Later, a mushaira was also held at the college hall in which poets recited their poetry. —Correspondent
