HYDERABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Hyderabad chapter on Saturday organised a protest demonstration against what the party claims ‘extra-judicial killing’ of their several workers during the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi.

A large number of MQM activists and their family members carrying party flats, placards and banners gathered in front of the local press club and raised slogans against ‘state terrorism’. They appealed to all government institutions to help locate 45 MQM activists who, they said, went missing during the operation.

Speaking to them MNA Syed Waseem Hussain and several Hyderabad chapter leaders alleged that many of their party colleagues had been picked up by the law-enforcement agencies in Karachi and some of them had already been tortured to death. Their bodies were found dumped at various places on roads, they said.

They regretted that the Supreme Court was not taking suo motu notice of such killings. They claimed that the MQM had supported launch of the operation that was supposed to be aimed against criminals but eventually it had been targeted against the MQM.

They warned the Sindh government and heads of law-enforcement agencies against victimising and extra-judicially killing MQM workers and supporters, crossing the limits and conspiring to crush the party.
