Eid being celebrated in USA today

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec 15: The Islamic Fiqh Council and the National Islamic Shura Council of North America has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday.

A statement of the organizations said that the decision — endorsed by the Islamic Society of North America, one of the major American Muslim organizations — is based on the indisputable astronomical information of the solar eclipse occurring in the afternoon of Friday, Dec 14.

However, observers here said that many Muslim organizations are likely to ignore this decision and follow the announcement of Eid from Saudi Arabia as they did at the commencement of Ramazan.
