BAHAWALPUR: Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) Chief Maulana Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi has proposed a dialogue between Shia and Sunni sects to curb the menace of sectarianism from the country.
He was addressing a conference at Hatheji near Ahmedpur East, about 60km from here on Monday.
Mr Ludhianvi welcomed the dialogue with the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan to bring about peace and harmony in the country and prayed for the success of the talks.
He expressed his concern over the growing differences between the two sects and suggested a dialogue on the same pattern. As regards ASWJ, he said: “We will fully cooperate to make any such move successful in the larger interest of the country.”
Later talking to the media in Bahawalpur, Maulana Ludhianvi condemned the killing of ASWJ activists in Karachi and other places.
He warned if the killing of party activists was not stopped and the government failed to cope with the issue by mobilising intelligence agencies, then ASWJ would be constrained to take extreme measures for the safety and protection of workers.
