DERA MURAD JAMALI: At least 550 megawatts of power supply was halted Monday, following damage to three gas pipelines supplying gas to the Uch power plant in Balochistan's Dera Murad Jamali area, DawnNews reported.

According to the Ministry of Water and Power officials, 550 megawatts of power supply was halted, following vandalism of three gas pipelines by miscreants.

Officials moreover said it would take 24 hours to restore the damaged pipelines, adding that Oil and Gas Development Authorities-led (OGDC) authorities were engaged in its maintenance.

Sabotage of gas pipelines is a characteristic tactic of tribal militants and is frequently witnessed in Balochistan. However, the province also suffers from attacks carried out by Taliban militants.
