LAHORE: Development of ‘Greater Iqbal Park’ around Minar-i-Pakistan and shifting of Badami Bagh fruit and vegetable market were among the nine development schemes approved by Punjab government on Wednesday, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs6252.242 million.

The schemes were approved in the 28th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of 2013-14 fiscal year presided over by the Punjab Planning and Development Board Chairman Irfan Elahi.

The preservation, renovation and landscaping of Minar-i-Pakistan and Circular Gardens’ additional area (to be called Greater Iqbal Park) will cost Rs403.686 million, while shifting of Badami Bagh fruit and vegetable market and establishment of a composite fruit, vegetable and grain market at Lahore will cost Rs446.822 million. Replacement of 20 tube-wells of 2/4-CFS capacity in different areas of Lahore city will be done at a cost of Rs220 million.

The other schemes approved at the meeting included establishment of a ‘Citizen Facilitation and Service Center’ at a cost of Rs1409.582 million, IT centric interventions and smart monitoring under Punjab Public Management Reforms Program (PPMRP) at a cost of Rs1904.927 million, rehabilitation and augmentation of sewerage system at Khanpur city (zone-A, phase-II) at a cost of Rs497.050 million, comprehensive sewerage scheme for Gujranwala city at a cost of Rs943.000 million, construction of road from Kotli Sattian to Dhanda (length 15.61Km) Kotli Sattian tehsil in Rawalpindi district at a cost of Rs216.379 million and widening and improvement of road from Faisalabad by-pass (km No13, Makuana) to Jassuana through Chak Nos 113/GB, 111/GB and 69/GB (17.03km) in Faisalabad district at a cost of Rs210.796 million.
