BAHAWALPUR: The district administration has leased out the PTDC motel to a private catering firm for a period of 10 years at the rate of Rs0.3 million per month.

The motel had been constructed by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation on a piece of land leased out to PTDC under an agreement by the historical Bahawal Club around 1980. It has 14 double rooms with a dinning hall and a lounge.

The PTDC has been running it successfully providing boarding and lodging facilities to locals and foreigners.

During previous months, the district administration took its administrative control on its own and closed it for privatization, causing inconvenience to tourists.

EDO (Finance) Rana Sakhawat Ali told Dawn here on Saturday that the district administration had received a sum of Rs1 million in advance while the monthly rent of Rs300,000 would be enhanced at the rate of 10 per cent after three years.

He said members of the Bahawal Club would be entitled to subsidy in the rent of two rooms whenever they needed for their guests or otherwise.
