From a common man's perspective whether the operation continues or is halted it does not make the slightest difference. The police and rangers can come up with any statistics they choose it is all to fool the high-ups.

Is it really a job of Rangers to comment about the police set up and vice versa? Who is controlling the rangers and police? Rangers or Police, both have failed. Where is the accountability?

Karachi needs local police and local rangers. Same is true for KP and Balochistan.

When would we see the score card for the police and the ranger's operation?

I, as a common citizen, am little worried about targeted killings. My real concern is extortion, kidnapping for ransom and street crimes. I will consider rangers and police successful when I would be able to ride or walk fearlessly. Secondly, I am extremely concerned about presence of Talibans and banned-outfits in city. It is the responsibility of police and rangers to uproot them and protect us from their deadly attacks. If police and rangers are able to address these concerns, we will consider this operation a success. Police and rangers will find us stand behind them against these destabilizing factors.

@Najma: In an ideal word your point would be valid but in karachi the rangers are being asked to risk their lives and the person being appointed is not capable of doing the job he is a politicol appointee and no ranger should be asked to risk his life to cover this

First of all we are equally concerned about any act of violence injustice crime or any disturbance in the city. No matter who is affected, at the end of the day it is our fellow, a human, regardless of which religion ethnic origin color or caste he belongs to! a Christian or a Jew or a Muslim or pathan or punjabi or muhajir or mufti or liberal person etc. We should have an EFFECTIVE SYSTEM to respond to all these bads. Who will address the issues of those getting targeted killed, they also pay tax and Pakistan is responsible to there security. if they are not secure no body is secure. when target killing happens, no body will care about the pedestrian or surrounding people. it will be a rain of bullet and this is what brings up the feeling of insecurity, repels investment from area, make life difficult etc etc. Secondly in this huge city you cannot just throw the bad out, you cannot segregate them. Police or Rangers are not magicians they are also bound by and limited by a lot of constraints, political, legal, technological, resource etc. We have to understand that we cannot suppress any group or kill them. what we can do is to rather get them together with us for betterment by talks. Install cameras on streets. closely monitor activities on streets utilizing a separate squad with specialist in it. that should run under top police intelligence command without having political problems of dept to them. let them be isolated and work efficiently. hire specialist pay them good look after them and get their expert services to capture the targeted enemies.
