Girl poisons ‘lover’

SAHIWAL, June 23: A girl allegedly poisoned her lover on Monday after being engaged by her parents to a rich man.

Reports said Muhammad Younis, son of a widow, wanted to marry the girl, but her parents did not like him. Engaging the girl to a rich man, the parents asked her to poison Younis to get rid of him.

On Monday, the girl presented Younis a bottle of liquor claiming it to be gift for him. Deaf to her mother’s pleas, the boy took liquor and gradually fainted. He breathed his last after some time.

Police have registered a case under section 302 PPC against the girl.

ROBBERY: Armed men on Monday plundered cash and gold ornaments worth Rs775,000 from the house of an industrialist’s son-in-law.

According to reports, four robbers stormed into Muhammad Safdar’s house after overpowering watchman, locked the inmates in a room and took away jewellery worth Rs700,000 and Rs75,000 in cash.

Eye-witnesses said the robbers passed through the Fateh Sher police station, which is hardly a furlong from the place of incident.
