VEHARI, June 23: Over 2,500 telephone connections were disconnected due to non-payment in the district, an official of the PTCL revenue office said here on Monday.

He said that about 600 telephones were disconnected in Mailsi, 800 in Vehari and 1,200 in Burewala sub-division.

He said connections of all PTCL subscribers, who did not pay the telephone bills of the current month and their amount was over Rs1,000, would be severed.

However, telephones of politicians, including Vehari district Nazim Mumtaz Khan Khichi, his son MNA Aftab Khan Khichi, Vehari PML-Q president Jahanzaib Khichi, Vehari PPP president Noor Khan Bhaba, who are defaulters of millions of rupees are still functioning.

According to sources, the Khichi family of Mailsi is the defaulter of about Rs2 million.
