Muhammad Latif and Muhammad Shabbir of Chak 173/P, Sadiqabad tehsil, and Muhammad Ishtiaq of Muslim Colony, had been arrested when they were busy selling the car.

They had reportedly hired a taxi for Rs175 and took driver Abdul Ghaffar to Rahim Yar Khan to one Rafique’s house. They forced the driver to smell chloroform and he fell unconscious. They tortured him to death by tightening a rope around his neck and threw his body into Adam Sahaba distributory.

Police have registered a case.

COMMITTEE: Cholistan Livestock Development Committee has been formed under the instructions of district Nazim Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mahmood here on Friday.

According to details, a sum of Rs1 million had initially been mobilized for promotion of the breeding cattle.

The Nazim said efforts were being made to preserve the rare breeds of the livestock. The steps would enable the authority for exporting these species to earn reasonable amounts in foreign exchange.

EDO livestock was nominated chairman of the committee.

COMPLAINED: The transporters are extorting enhanced fares from the passengers despite decrease in oil prices in international market.

Residents of Fatehpur Kamal, Qadirpur and Ghausabad on Friday called on tehsil Nazim and said the transporters plying their vehicles from Fatehpur Kamal to Khan Bela, Zahir Pir and Malkani, were charging enhanced fares. They complained the commuters had been forced to sit on the top of the vehicles.

They urged the Nazim to rid themselves of the growing menace of unfair charging.
