ISLAMABAD, June 22: Former Prime Minister and chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party Benazir Bhutto has condoled the death of Maj-Gen Mohammad Imtiaz Ali (retired).

In a message, she said Gen Imtiaz Ali was a man of outstanding capabilities and great integrity whose death was a national loss.

Maj-Gen Mohammad Imtiaz Ali (retired), was laid to rest at the Army Graveyard, Peshawar Road, Rawalpindi on Sunday evening.

A large number of people from all walks of life of the twin cities of Rawalpindi-Islamabad including military and civilian officials and politicians attended the funeral prayers.

Gen Imtiaz Ali died at the Combined Military Hospital, Rawalpindi, on Saturday.

Gen Ali was the military secretary to the late Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He also served as defence adviser to Benazir Bhutto during her first stint as prime minister.

He was born in March 1930 and got commission in Baloch Regiment in the Pakistan Army in 1952. He had an excellent military career. He had the unique distinction of serving both the SSG and the Army aviation and in sports as well.
