ISLAMABAD, June 22: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has revised the home economics curriculum being taught at graduate level at public sector universities and institutions of higher learning in the country.

A four-day meeting of National Curriculum Revision Committee (NCRC), to review the discipline of home economics, was held at the HEC Regional Centre, Lahore.

In addition to revising the curriculum of BSc home economics, the committee recommended that duration of the degree course should be increased from four to five years.

The committee further recommended that the MSc home economics curriculum should be upgraded and new specialized courses also be introduced.

The committee was of the view that due recognition should be given to professional home economics specialists and faculties of the discipline be created in respective universities in the country.

The meeting suggested that home economics courses should be affiliated with universities rather than the boards of intermediate and secondary education.
