LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday restrained an election tribunal from deciding an appeal for disqualification of MNA Ijaz Chaudhry from NA-108, Mandi Bahauddin.

Mr Chaudhry challenged the proceedings before the tribunal. His rival candidate, Mumtaz Ahmad, had filed the appeal to seek his disqualification on the basis of a bogus graduation degree.

Mr Chaudhry, however, pleaded the matter of his degree had already been settled by the LHC, submitting that his rival had concealed the facts.

The court adjourned hearing until Jan 11 and stopped the election tribunal from deciding the appeal.
