HYDERABAD, June 20: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, here on Friday issued a notice to the Qasimabad SHO and the Sindh additional advocate-general to appear before the court on June 25 on a constitutional petition, alleging police highhandedness.

Advocate Ayaz Hussain Tunio filed the petition on behalf of Khamiso Channo against the SHO and Muzaffar Shah alias Jeal Shah.

The petitioner stated that he had 20 acres of land in Deh Sari of Qasiambad Taluka on lease basis for the last 30 years.

He maintained that the SHO was pressuring him to sell the land to Mr Shah to which he had refused, annoying the SHO.

He alleged that the SHO and Mr Shah were harassing him to force him to sell the land.

Mr Channo told the court that his sons, Sharif and Dad, were taken to police station by the SHO, from where they were released on the intervention of some residents of the area.

He alleged that the SHO threatened him that if he did not hand over the land to Mr Shah, he and his sons would be implicated in false criminal cases.

He prayed the court to direct the SHO and Mr Shah not to harass him or his family members.

PETITION WITHDRAWN: Advocate Ayaz Latif Palijo withdrew a constitutional petition against the Sarhari SHO, the Shahdadpur TPO and the Sanghar DPOs (operation and investigation) after the TPO filed a statement before Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, that Abdul Qadir Khoso, the cousin of petitioner Ibrahim Khoso, was not in police custody.

The counsel sought permission from the court to file fresh address of the detainee’s whereabouts before the court.
