KARACHI, Dec 13: The Group of Five mini-league round in the Departmental Leg of the second division Pakistan Footbal Federation League (PFFL) kicked off here on Friday with Pakistan Police overcoming the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) 1-0.

The Group of Five round will see each of the five teams playing each other on a round-robin system with the team finishing at the top of the league being crowned Departmental Leg winners.

The winners will earn a place in next season’s Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) and will play the Club Leg winners to decide the PFFL champions.

Police took early control of the round when Waseem Abbas’ strike in the sixth minute proved enough for victory against SSGC at the KPT Football Stadium.

Later, Karachi United rescued a point in the second match of the day with Noman’s goal five minutes from time securing a 1-1 draw against the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Murtaza Hasan had given the HEC the lead in the 59th.
