DERA GHAZI KHAN, June 19: The seniority list of patwaris for the DG Khan district is unlawful as it includes temporarily-recruited people from other districts, some local patwaris have claimed.

According to details, some patwaris were recruited from other districts for the settlement process in the DG Khan and Rajanpur districts in 1984. As per the rules, the appointment of these Patwaris had to be terminated with the completion of settlement, but the process could not be completed on schedule, and the outsider patwaris continued working in the district.

According to the land manual record act, patwaris must be recruited from their respective tehsils and in case of recruitment from other districts, the temporary arrangement must be terminated with the accomplishment of the assigned task.

While the process of settlement has long been completed, the outsider patwaris are not only still working in the district but they have been included in the seniority list and wrongfully promoted. Ironically, there are scores of jobless patwaris in the district, who are awaiting appointment.

The issue has already been taken up by the local administration and the revenue board of Punjab. The board has already advised the local administration to send the outsider patwaris to their respective districts, where the departments concerned have also issued No Objection Certificates in this regard.

A departmental meeting supposed to take up the issue on June 19 was postponed indefinitely. Such meetings have been postponed for the last two years.
