End of the road for Hrithik-Sussanne marriage

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and his wife of 13 years, Sussanne Roshan, are ending their marriage, the Hindustan Times reported on Friday.

In a statement requesting the media to respect his privacy, the actor, who has two sons with Sussanne – Hrehaan, 7 and Hridhaan, 5, said:

“Sussanne has decided to separate from me and end our 17-year relationship. This is a very trying time for the entire family and I request the media and the people to grant us our privacy at this time.

I do not wish this news to disempower my fans and the people about the institution of marriage in any way. I am a firm believer in this institution and respect and honour it at the highest level.

The confirmation comes after several months of speculation over the couple's split.

Hrithik Roshan married Sussanne, the daughter of Bollywood producer, director and actor Sanjay Khan, in 2000.

This just proves money does not buy happiness! With all the wealth that these celebrities have, they cannot make each other happy! It appears that there is something missing in their lives (be in Hollywood or Bollywood) and to seek that "something", they make these painful decisions. Not much different than an ordinary person with little money. The heartache and stress is the same. Imagine the children - with all the wealth, they still will be raised in a single family setting. It should be lesson for all of us - be content with what we have and make the most with the love you possess - material things cannot bring eternal happiness and it is temporary.

What hold Rakesh Roshan has on his home?Even Rupert Mudroch denied his family for watching Star Movies years back.Here,Rakesh is directing 'Musibat ki Jad' with his Son as the lead actor( For the film, Kites).Yehi hona thaa... All are not Hillary Clinton.

children who come from a broken home fare much better than children who live in a broken home.A wise decision from the couple to protect their children from further stress.marriages continued on the basis of children are never successful and leave the children tainted for life.

Well this is surely sad to know about the ending of a marriage. But as a matter of fact what concern does it cause to us PAKISTANIs. we are already in such dire situation where half of the country is slipping into permanent poverty and our media is concerned with the family disputes of BOLLYWOOD. Why cannot the Media organise programs on making schemes to eliminate poverty.

@independentthinker: they have affairs within their filmi community,which are the basis of unhappy marriages and unholy alliances. Bollywood actors are as scandalous as the hollywood ones.

People don't care what you say "I respect marriage institution and its value". People take notice of what we do, our actions, not our cheap talk. If Bollywood actor loves his children then love their mother as well. She is the same woman he was dying for her few years ago. Now may be he is interested in someone else like his fellow actor Saif Ali Khan. Be a man and admit his weaknesses and get the help of marriage councilor and let the fire of love burning. Marriage & family institutions are center of Indian society. To keep it alive it needs some small sacrifices from the parties involved. Please don't let your feelings of differences to win.

I am sorry DAWN, but you have lost me as a reader. From a personal standpoint: 1) Who cares about this frivolous news from India. 2) What does this have to do with Pakistan? 3) DAWN is (or was??) a Pakistani newspaper. Lets keep this in mind shall we. Personally, I will make it a point to speak out against this with all my friends.
