BAHAWALPUR, June 19: Cantonment police released all the 17 arrested people of Basti Raidan here on Thursday.

They were arrested on Wednesday on the pretext that a police party which visited the area to restore the law and order after a clash between two rival cricket teams was manhandled.

Among the arrested people were also the notables, including a lecturer and a prayer leader. Their arrest had triggered public protest and condemnation, forcing the police to release them after withdrawing the case against them.
