LAHORE, June 13: The Lahore Electricity Supply Company has sought permission from Wapda for waiving surcharge levied on the Water and Sanitation Agency and charging power bills for traffic signals in the city in accordance with the streetlights tariff.

Lesco chief executive Brig Riaz Toor said this at a meeting presided over by District Nazim Mian Amer here on Friday. He said he had recommended a change in power tariff for traffic signals billing and waiving of Wasa surcharge.

He said he had constituted special teams for disconnection of power supply to neon signs connected with streetlight lines and billing the advertising companies accordingly.

He said a new transformer would be installed for power supply to Jubilee Town by June 25.

Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency chief engineer Khushhal Khan said the construction of eight-kilometre southern bypass linking the Lahore Canal with College Road had been completed at a cost of Rs83.5 million. Funds were now required for starting the construction of a road proposed to link Maulana Shaukat Ali Road with the main road in Karim Block, Allama Iqbal Town.

KUTCHERY: The district Nazim will hear public complaints against different City District Government departments at an open kutchery at the Muslim League House here at 11am on Saturday.
