SHEIKHUPURA, June 13: Six members of two families drowned in two incidents in the Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Reports said two sisters and their cousin drowned in Ravi near Naroki village, Sheikhupura.

Sonia, 8, and Kishwar 10, had gone to their cousin Kulsoom’s house at Naroki village. They went to Ravi to enjoy boating and drowned.

The villagers recovered the bodies of Kulsoom and Kishwar after few hours. However, Sonia’s body is still missing. The sailor escaped after the incident.

Mangtanwala police are investigating.

SARGODHA: Two siblings and their sister-in-law drowned in Jhelum near Jhawarian town on Thursday evening.

According to reports, Shazia and her brother Faisal, residents of Jhawarian town, about 45 kilometres from here, took their sister-in-law Bushra to Jhelum river.

They were enjoying wading through the gushing water when a wave swept them away.

They drowned in no time. However, three other members of the family were rescued.

Only Shazia’s body was recovered till last reports came in.
