ISLAMABAD, Nov 3: Payment of compensation to the flood- affected people of Kutcha Abadis in the Capital will be made soon, Rural Development Minister Omar Asghar Khan said on Saturday.

Presiding over a meeting to review the implementation of directives for the welfare of slum dwellers of Islamabad, the minister said the matter was being taken up with the finance ministry for early release of money.

The minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure restoration of electricity connections in Kutcha Abadis.

He said reconstruction of flood-affected Kutcha Abadis of the Capital would be done on priority basis so that the affected people could be provided with shelters.

According to the national policy of Kutcha Abadis, Mr Omar Asghar Khan said, efforts were being made to gear up the process for granting propreity rights to the slum dwellers of the federal capital so that they can live without any fear of being eveicted.
