Army chief for professional approach

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6: Army chief Gen Raheel Sharif stressed the importance of professionalism in dealing with challenges as he spelt out his vision and priorities for the troops on Friday.

He was chairing the first corps commanders’ meeting after his elevation to the post on Nov 29.

According to an ISPR statement, the internal and external security situation of the country was reviewed at the meeting held at the General Headquarters.

Sources described the session as “take charge meeting” and quoted Gen Sharif as telling his commanders that he wanted to see professional excellence in dealing with the challenges. The army chief has already indicated by visiting the headquarters of the ISI for his first official briefing and then travelling to Waziristan for meeting troops that dealing with militancy would top his priorities.
