MIRPURKHAS, June 10: A woman, Fatima Shaikh, 38, was shot dead by her brothers in the Mir Hayat Talpur village, Digri Taluka, on Tuesday for embracing Islam.

The woman was called Shrimati Andi Kolhi before embracing Islam on May 17 in the office of the Anjuman-i-Ghulaman-i-Mustafa, Samaro Taluka, where she was named Fatima Shaikh.

Her family had objected to it and forced her to withdraw from her decision, but she bluntly refused.

Her brothers, Kawal Kolhi and Harchand Kolhi, entered her room and shot her dead on Tuesday.

Her post-mortem was conducted at the Taluka hospital, Digri.

The Digri police registered a murder case against her brothers.

One of them was arrested and an unlicensed pistol was seized from his possession.
